General & scope

Are these games considered therapy? Can I use them in clinical or coaching work?

Not yet. While reflection games can feel grounding and supportive, they are not therapy, medical devices, or a substitute for professional care. They shouldn’t be used for diagnosis, clinical assessment, or treatment.

What’s the research behind these games, and how do academic theories shape the design?

Every card and mechanism draws on published research around core human needs (adapted from Manfred Max-Neef and Self-Determination Theory), stress, and agency. You can explore how we bridge theory and play in Mycelios’ Theory of Game Design.

How long does it take to play?

A typical solo round of Too Much / Not Enough takes 10 to 15 minutes. A daily or weekly round of Workplace Creature takes only a few minutes per player.

Which game is right for me?

What’s the difference between Too Much / Not Enough and Workplace Creature?

Too Much / Not Enough is a physical card sort built for individuals reflecting on their own habits, needs, or life transitions. Workplace Creature is a digital tool built for teams—it turns individual check-ins into an anonymized, shared map showing where a team is supported and where it’s running on empty.

Do I need a group to play, or can I do this on my own?

Too Much / Not Enough is built specifically for solo play. Workplace Creature is designed for teams and groups, though every round begins with a brief, completely private individual sort.

Privacy & data security

Is my input to Workplace Creature genuinely anonymous?

Yes. Personal identities and gameplay responses are stored in entirely separate systems. Furthermore, team-level insights only render once five or more members have played. If fewer than five people participate, the dashboard remains blank so no individual’s input can ever be isolated.

Can my boss or team lead see my specific answers in Workplace Creature?

No. Team leads, managers, and team members all see the exact same aggregated dashboard—the same metrics, insights, and timeframe. There is no hidden “manager view,” and individual responses can never be traced back to you.
